It’s time to elect Chapter Directors, Executive Director, and 3 At-Large positions to serve on the Birth Matters Coordinating Board. The nomination period began on April 2, 2016 and will end on April 12th, 2016. Current members will be eligible to vote at Birth Matters’ 2016 Volunteer Celebration and Annual Meeting on April 30th in Williamsburg, VA.
Anyone can nominate an individual- even themselves! The nominee must be a member in good standing of Birth Matters VA.
Below are brief description of each position
- CHAPTER DIRECTOR: 1 year, volunteer term. The Chapter Director oversees day to day activities of the chapter, represents the chapter as a voting member of the Coordinating Board of BMVA, and attends 3 of 4 regularly scheduled state meetings to serve as an active participant of the governing body of the organization.
- EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR: 2 year, volunteer term. The Executive Director presides at all meetings of the Coordinating Board or Members, b) implements orders and resolutions of the board c) signs all contracts and other written instruments to which BM is a party, d) cause all required filings with federal, state and local authorities to be filed in compliance with applicable law.
- AT LARGE: 1 year, volunteer term. These board members are not responsible for a specific chapter, but are self starters who carry out the mission of Birth Matters across the state. There is opportunity for creativity in terms of taking on public relations/outreach, public policy, and other statewide campaigns. Additionally all At Large Members help fundraise for the organization.
